Energy
Fuel for movement
Introduction
Every pattern needs energy to move. If there is too much, the system can feel overwhelmed. If there is too little, the system can feel stuck.
Before changing the pattern itself, we make sure there is enough steady energy to support movement.
Why do we need energy?
Energy is what allows you to think clearly, respond instead of react, stay present instead of shutting down, and move through something instead of getting stuck in it.
When energy is low or unstable, even small things can feel difficult. When energy is supported, patterns become easier to work with.
Sources of Energy
Nutrition
What you eat becomes the fuel your system runs on. This doesn’t need to be complicated.
Focus on:
– eating regularly (not skipping for long periods).
– choosing foods that feel sustaining, not depleting.
– noticing how different foods affect your energy after. Some foods support steady energy. Others can lead to spikes and crashes.
Simple awareness:
– Do you feel more stable after eating or more drained?
– Are you going long periods without fuel?
Gentle direction:
– Aim for food that helps you feel steady, not just full.
Hydration
Water supports nearly every function in your body. Even mild dehydration can lead to fatigue, headaches, or difficulty focusing.
Focus on:
– Most adults should drink from 1.5 cups (2.7 liters) to 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) of water per day.
– How much water you need will depend on your body type, activity level, and environment.
Simple awareness:
– Have you had enough water today?
Gentle direction:
– Drink water consistently throughout the day, not just when you feel thirsty.
Sunlight & Natural Light
Light helps regulate your internal rhythms. It supports energy levels, sleep cycles, and mood stability.
Simple awareness:
– Have you had any natural light today?
Gentle direction:
– Even a few minutes of sunlight can help your system reset.
Rest
Rest is how your system restores energy.
Without it, everything requires more effort.
This includes:
– sleep
– pauses during the day
– moments without stimulation
Simple awareness:
– Have you had any real rest or only constant input?
Gentle direction:
– Rest is not stopping progress. It supports it.
Environment
Your surroundings can either support or drain your energy.
This includes:
– air quality
– noise
– visual clutter
– connection to natural elements
Simple awareness:
– Does your environment feel supportive or draining?
Gentle direction:
– step outside if you can
– open a window
– reduce small sources of strain
– place your feet on the ground (grass, earth) if available
Closing Reflection
You don’t need to change everything. Just notice where your energy might need a small amount of support.
Choose one small shift:
– Drink water
– Eat something nourishing
– Step outside or get light
– Take a few minutes of rest
– Change something small in your environment
