Reflective Growth
Understanding the Reflective Growth Loop
Each interaction moves through a natural process. This process happens in just about every interaction that we have with the world. When we understand how the loop works, we are able to make small, mindful changes.
1. Notice the activation
2. Observe what happened and why
3. Reflect on how on how it is currently moving and what you would like the new pattern to be
4. Transform by making one small adjustment towards the new pattern
5. Integrate the shift with focused attention, intention and repetition
6. Embody the the new pattern and carry it forward
What is a Pattern?
Patterns are recurring ways that energy, behavior, perception, or relationship organize over time. Some patterns create coherence, adaptability, and connection while others create fragmentation, rigidity, or distress. Many patterns begin as adaptations. The body, mind, relationship, system adapts. Over time, repeated responses can become deeply ingrained ways of moving through life, often operating beneath conscious awareness.
By learning to observe patterns without immediate judgment, we can begin to understand what is being reinforced, what is being protected, and what may be ready to shift.
There are three underlying variables to how a pattern moves. Energy is needed as fuel for anything to happen at all. It is also the activation step, an energy is activated.
The signal is the internal or external information that caused the activation. It can be something that is unfolding in the present, a memory that came up from past patterns, or a thought about a future pattern.
Balance is how the energy moves. Is the energy stuck and not moving much or at all, or is it moving to much and feeling chaotic? We want the movement to ultimately be balanced.
